Stop, time!
Clock time
in and out
as minutes
become classes
become days.

This program has been brought to you by: ticketty tock in a boring lecture.

Molasses is the nectar of the gods [Oct. 19th, 2004|09:21 pm]
Nothing like a pan of fresh brownies, with the following added:
Molasses
Extra egg yolk
Baking chocolate
Milk
More leavening agent
Coffee
Additional Sugar.

I'm like a sex machine in the kitchen.

Ironical [Oct. 17th, 2004|05:37 pm]
[mood |grammar nazi]
[music |it's like RAAAIIIAAAAIIINN]

IC it spelled with an -AL,
Or sometimes just alone.
It's funny how we try to spell
as rules become outgrown.

Tremble before me, for I am awesome! [Oct. 12th, 2004|09:18 pm]
[mood |I'm my own personal Jesus]
[music |wvvveerhhhmm]

There's just something gratifying about finishing a project that you've busted some serious ass trying to finish. There's also something serene about being the only person inside of a lab at 1AM in morning, building stuff. And only a monstrous monumentous occasion like the two of them occuring simultaneously can justify another blog entry so soon after my last.

I have seen the light, and it is red. And it says A, b, C, d, E, F, G, H, I, and J, sequentially and in order, on a digital clock display.
Woohoo!

Thermos o' coffee in the engineering computer lab [Oct. 7th, 2004|09:18 am]
[mood |coffee]
[music |whirrrr]

It's steam rising up into the air conditioner from an open thermos.
And it's electric warmth that radiates from thin plastic cup
which is full of melange to the palm of my hand.
I smell the acrid scent of coffee doped with the sweetness of molasses
blended with the smell of office, which is air conditioning and newsprint
and toner and paper and wood and carpet and dust and math and musty
textbooks and computers and logic and toil and engineering.
With just the faintest hint of cigarettes in the air from back before people cared about such things.

This is first cup of coffee.
Which is warmth in my mouth and my e·soph·a·gus, and awakeosity all over my brain.
As people start to come in after their classes, the clickety clack orchestra of
a million keyboards picks up bit by bit over the blanketing
hum of the family-size air conditioner.
Electrical engineers are waking up!

Every time I see a shooting star... [Apr. 21st, 2004|10:52 pm]
I cross posted this to the UCSB community, but it's here too. I imagine I'll be heading out somewhere around 1:45 or so, and I'll be at Campus Point at about 2AM. No doubt wearing a sweater and a blanket with rocket-ships. Aw-right for rocket ships!

---

There's a meteor shower tonight!

The Lyrid Meteors will be passing over our skies tonight, peaking from about 2AM to dawn. While they're not as frequent as other meteor showers, you can expect to see between 5 and 20 meteors/hour, and they're gonna be bright ones with really awesome tails.

So if you're awake at 2AM and looking for something romantic to do, take your man/woman (/womyn?) out to have a look in the quiet hours of the morning, between about 2 and 5:30 or so.

As for where they'll be in the sky, I set these pictures up to show you where to look in the sky. On the big map 'constellations,' the whole sky is shown (south is facing the beach!). On the smaller map 'location', the approximate location to watch is marked. I also have a map of what the eastern horizon (ocean on your right) will loook like at 2AM, and where the meteors will be. Enjoy!

Constellations
Location
The Eastern horizon

You'll see the showers close to the star Vega, which is easy to see because it's really damn bright, and will be almost overhead but in the eastern sky. So, basically, it'll be the really damn bright star that's a little bit to your left, if you're looking at the sky facing the ocean.

Here's a link to www.space.com, specifically to the article which talks about it:

And lo! Both creativity and time strike simultaneously! [Apr. 19th, 2004|01:18 am]
[mood | inspired]
[music |The Descendents - Here With Me]

idea for blog: bands, a They Might be Giants, and chasing expression. Discuss, discuss. I'll write this into a blogmoblog tomorrow night or possibly Tuesday sometime, as time permits.
